March, 2010 Archives

So here we are, the boy and I. Just hanging out on the bed like we do. When you-know-who up and smiles … a bunch of times. He’s still not doing them on command, but it’s amazing just tracking his changes even over these few short weeks. We had a banner saturday but forgot to take any pictures! We’ve never been good about the picture taking in our daily lives together or even on trips for that matter. Took a trip down to the Brazillian BBQ place in the redondo pier and had an amazing carnivore’s brunch complete with 4 kinds o steak, chicken, lamb, ribs, and sausage. What would accompany all that animal better than bottomless bubbly?! Then we headed out to a friend’s place for the latest UFC fight and an Italian feast. I have to admit, it was more like Tucker’s coming out party and there happened to be two guys bloodying eachother on the tv rather than the other way round. While Heather had retained some sort of anonymity while pregnant, she was suddenly thrust into the limelite hotseat as all our female friends are at that age and are SO interested in starting their own families! I was surprised by how earnest and congratulatory our confirmed bachelor friends were about my becoming a father. There must be something hardwired into men that makes them imagine raising a boy, or raising a younger version of themselves at least. I can remember saying “i’m going to do that with my boy” even when i was a little kid. So here’s our 10 minutes of laptop fun:

So there we were, just hanging out: BIG man & little man.

When all of a sudden, we had SMILES! = )

With 2 dogs, 2 cats, & plenty of desert dust, sneezes are a regular & adorable occurance.

Being a little international man of mystery, or even a local little man of mystery takes a lot out of you.

But you can’t keep these Big Foot(s) down for long, there’s kickin to be done.

But then things got weird, really weird …

Finally, we were told to leave this place. Make haste good sir, find me that lunch truck!

5 weeks and smiling

Tho he wasn’t making any sounds Tucker has been running through an array of facial expressions while I talk to him.

Edit – looking back this was the first time Tucker smiled in response to me.

First Smile

These are from the first week home with Tucker.  He’s getting a little time out on grampa’s chest (just like i used to).  He’s been progressing his form since then and stands completely rigid off my chest arching his back and craning his neck.  i’m thinking diver … maybe water, maybe sky.  who knows!

Back in the day

I swear this smile and thumbs up were directly related to me talking to him and asking him to pose for the picture.

Thumbs up

In the early days Ben and my Mom had a contest trying to catch Tuckers smile. Mom wins with this half shot hastily taken at the pediatrician.

Smile contest

Nice morning just hanging out on the bed. Tucker’s man enough to handle the pink diaper cover.

On Mom

Radar is again the smallest Watson with Tucker topping 9lbs this week. He was also due for a bath. In the meantime, Kaya tried out a different bed.

Fuzzy Watsons

We’ve had a really nice Saturday afternoon so far. Went to see our accountant and get our taxes situated for this year, momma made some corned beef hash, and we’re having a good time listening to music and doing our brain exercises! A few yawns are bubbling up so maybe we’ll get lucky and get a nap in here somewhere. 🙂

Tucker Counts

Ben has a nighttime routine where he tests different bouncing techniques in an effort to sedate Tucker. I don’t think any have proven effective for more than a few minutes.
