Happy Birthday Grandma Friedel!

Your gift is a bit dodgy on the legal side. You have to have a permit in most states to possess picures his adorable. Heck, these pictures have been known to ferment revolution in those dark oppressed countries with the battle cry “how is this kid so damned cute??!”.

Birthday pictures for Grandma

Wow, week 11 and 12 were action packed. I haven’t had much opportunity to update the blog until now as I conveniently sit in my car off Santa Monica Blvd for a nursing emergency.

Tucker has changed tremendously in the past two weeks. He’s losing hair and gaining weight. I don’t have an exact number but he’s probably around 16 – 17lbs. He reaches up when he sees me and he grabs everything in sight which follows a direct beeline to his mouth. Last weekend, he laughed out loud. I hear it was amazing.

Another development is a little white speck on his bottom gum that is giving him an awful lot to be fussy about. The really unfortunate thing about teething so early is he isn’t quite coordinated enough to keep a cold soothing toy in his mouth. Soon enough.

The rest of the family has been busy as well. I had my first game last weekend. Big event for all, aside from being my return it was Ben’s first time announcing as Mr. D’fiant. A direct result of my recent name change.

Also, my family visited! Here’s Aunt Catherine with Tucker.

sight seeing in Venice (or not).

He may hate us for all the animal hoods some day, but in the mean time..

Week 12!

So here we are.  The little man is in a great mood and dad’s soaking it all up.  Then I remember it … get the camera, stupid!  So I race over and grab the camera, but then i realize that the couch has some crap on it.  So I clean off the couch and prep the scene a bit before getting ready to shoot.  Then Dad thinks it would be great if he was sitting up in the boppy pillow so we have some variety to our video posings.  So I run and get the boppy pillow and finally get him propped up in it, and we’re ready to go.  Elapsed time: too long.  I hit record, and 30 seconds later all that great energy is gone and Tucker’s on his way out of a good mood.  So, here’s the 30 good seconds and the crying that came after it.  Those 30 seconds were just so cute I couldn’t pass this video up.

We’re about to star the early summer visitations. Aunt Catherine is comic tonight to mee the little man forthe first time, and then grandma & grandpa Friedel are arriving on Monday for a week of all the cuteness they can handle. Tucker has been training up for all the excitement by eating. A lot. All the time. 🙂 Since heather’s no longer pregnant, I can’t call my resiliant paunch “sympathy weight” any more, now it’s been cristened “solidarity weight”. Tucker and I are on a race to double our weight, so far he’s killing me. But I’ve stocked up on cereal and I plan on eating only after 10pm. Show this kid how we used to do things in the 80s.

Full house

Another busy week!

Tucker went to his first Mommy & Me Yoga class on Thursday in Venice.  He was pretty zen for the majority of it but the Yogi spirit definitely didn’t last the entire class.   Neither of us escaped the outing unscathed.  I slammed my thumb in the door of the car, the origins of Tucker’s scape remain unknown.

Friday, Tucker and I went to Moms group again.   Saturday we forgot to take pictures so I won’t tease with the days outings.  Sunday, Ben & Tucker Moby’d up to support me donating blood for a co-worker in need.  Her niece has Hodgkins and I’m an exact blood match.  We were a bit worried given my history of passing out, but a few rainbow sprinkled covered cookies and all was well.

In other news, Tucker sucked his thumb for the first time last week.  He also picked his nose shortly thereafter.  You could say he’s exploring the facial landscape.  And a slick landscape it is with the new found drool that is present at all times.  (Apparently, they haven’t learned to swallow saliva yet.  Let’s hold out hope he learns that one quick!)

This week Tucker has started fitting in clothes made for 3 month olds.  At 10 weeks and 14 lbs, he should be a helluva blocker some day.  Below he’s modeling some of his new attire along with some of the latest smiles and facial expressions.  Which reminds me, the Mom in the blue tank at Yoga last week told me my son would be a character.  She could tell by all his facial expressions.
