Tho he wasn’t making any sounds Tucker has been running through an array of facial expressions while I talk to him.
Edit – looking back this was the first time Tucker smiled in response to me.
Pictures and videos. Enough to salve your yearning for all things Watson.

These are from the first week home with Tucker. He’s getting a little time out on grampa’s chest (just like i used to). He’s been progressing his form since then and stands completely rigid off my chest arching his back and craning his neck. i’m thinking diver … maybe water, maybe sky. who knows!
I swear this smile and thumbs up were directly related to me talking to him and asking him to pose for the picture.
In the early days Ben and my Mom had a contest trying to catch Tuckers smile. Mom wins with this half shot hastily taken at the pediatrician.
We’ve had a really nice Saturday afternoon so far. Went to see our accountant and get our taxes situated for this year, momma made some corned beef hash, and we’re having a good time listening to music and doing our brain exercises! A few yawns are bubbling up so maybe we’ll get lucky and get a nap in here somewhere. 🙂
Had a nice family weekend. Took a walk to a little coffee shop in the riviera. Went out to breakfast and had dinner with friends.
It took a while to get this blog up so now a bit of catch up.
Tucker Benjamin Watson was born on February 22nd, 2010. The same day as George Washington, Chopin, & Shopenhauer (no pressure, Tuck). It wasn’t quite the perfect birth Ben and I had planned, but we accept this loss of control as our first lesson in parenthood. It was still a very special and unique experience.
The Baby Watson (as he was called before we knew the sex) sat “frank” breach for months before week 40 and after many tries at turning him we set a date for a C-section. Ben and our midwife Aleks were in the OR while my teammate Jane and Mom waited outside. Aleks filmed us and Ben asked to put on his iPod. Ben was at my side at 6:28pm when Tucker B. was born to the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard. The iPod was on shuffle when this song played:
(automatically goes to the best part … starting @ 4:25)
I’m pretty sure I’ll cry every time I ever hear the song again.
Our doctor reminded the room not to announce the sex and invited Ben to look over the curtain to see his child. Ben stood up and yelled “It’s a boy! OH MY GOD we made a boy!” The Dr. dipped Tucker over the curtain so I could see my son. He was all hair and eyes.
Ben rushed over to the table with Tucker keeping his hand on him the whole time while the dr’s looked him over. He was perfect though and they brought him back to me pretty quickly. We spent the next few minutes taking in our baby boy while they sewed me up. Ben told Tucker every songwriter that played (we like to start music education pretty young around here).
The next few hours, turned to days and now weeks that we’re with the little guy. He’s amazing (except when he’s not, lol) and we’re thrilled to start the next chapter of our lives with Tucker B. Watson.
