We woke up this morning to HOT weather! Finally. It has been an uncharacteristically dreary summer here and the Santa Anas have finally kicked up (seasonal winds from the east) bringing all that hot desert air out to the beach. While most of the rest of the country is pulling out their sweaters and peacoats, we’re finally pulling out our swimsuits and sunblock. Unfortunately, this also means fire season is upon us here in socal, but with no real forest to speak of in the densely populated LA basin, that doesn’t effect us much. It did smell like a camp fire all over LA county last year with the Tower Fire, but that’s as bad as it got.
We met our friends, the Mellers, in Hermosa for a little breakfast on the strand. Their son Luke is in Tucker’s class at daycare and they are becoming THE destructive duo! We had time for short walk along the beach with all the health nuts and had a great time. The boys fell asleep while I walked off some of the carne asada and eggs I had for breakfast.
Tucker and I came back to do a little napping and sweating outside to finish out the afternoon.

Yay! Comments are back. I want a post on how the dog is handling being a sibling. I never hear about your first child anymore now that Little Man is on the scene.
Also the comment I was going to make when I cried about comments being removed from an earlier post: we are stroller twinsies! I just bought a BOB to take Riggers with me on morning slogs (super slow jogging). We’re doing the Couch to 5k program together. Slogging sucks but I love me some BOB. I feel both fancier and more athletic pushing it around the ghetto than I do slogging by myself because it is so posh and sporty (like the Spice Girls, only better).
(See how important my comments are?)
Your comments are so important and bring up good points.
Kaya is handling being a sibling to Tucker very well. It’s the mini man that snuck in to the family right before Tuckers birth that causes all the trouble. Radar (the dog we rescued who has no eyes) constantly invades Kaya’s space. Favorite activities include shrill barking, peeing on the playroom carpet, avoiding Tucker and humping Kaya’s head. Because of him we now refer to our first child as “Saint Kaya”.
Tucker is only a few days away from crawling. Then we will see some tables turn (although probably not for Saint Kaya).
OH and I LOVE the BOB. It’s also a techy wonderland, I learn something new about it whenever we go out.
I forgot about the frakkin’ blind dog! He should come hang out with our cat, who started peeing right next to the litterbox and sleeping behind the toilet when Riggers began crawling. Now she’s medicated and we’re all much happier. My folks’ dog is often unable to make eye contact with the baby, but despite knowing a baby can’t be trusted, the dog will sneak in toe and face licks due to irresistible urges.
My second comment request: Please create a system to allow for notification when additional comments are made after I’ve commented. Then I know to come back. Ben, you like this kind of direction, yes? Ha! Seriously I think there’s a WP plug-in for it? Get on it.
I love you both. Alot. The end.
Saj, I’ll put the request in. I turned off comment notification because the spam-bots annoyed Ben to the point of banning comments all together.
Kaya can’t resist the face lick either even though she knows it’s off bounds. Tucker literally just started crawling over the weekend. Kaya was not suspecting that and jumped up in the air from a lying position when he started to make his move towards her. Radar has apparently known all along since he won’t get within five feet of Tucker for any amount of time, no less lie down around him.
