Tucker’s dinner: broccoli, green beans, pork spare rib, miso soup, seaweed, lo mein, chicken, crab, pork bun, sesame bun, fruit (grapes, bananas, peaches, pears) and ice cream. And a fortune cookie.

Chinese Buffet

Rather than owning two cribs, we decided to make the move to a big boy bed for Tucker. Naturally, Ben and I have been anxious about the change/future psychiatric bills to lighten the emotional baggage but once again he proved far more adaptable than we expected. Tucker was THRILLED.

About the Big Boy Bed – This is an Ikea model that will someday flip over so the bed is a top bunk with a play area underneath. Outfitted with Pottery Barn transportation sheets and quilt, there’s a side-rail not picture here. Ben painted the bottom and side panels with chalkboard paint and eventually we’ll put some cork board on the upper panels to display artwork. (Space pajamas not included)

Here we are again, building more furniture from ikea. who knew that we were actually building a train. Tucker figured out right away which side was the locomotive and took the pilot’s seat.

When I asked where my seat was, I was informed that it was certainly NOT in the front and I could sit in the back!

Always Ikea

Easter festivities commenced last weekend.

Ben and I had Good Friday off work so we dyed eggs with Tucker. He really enjoyed splashing the eggs into the colored water, but that only lasted for a few minutes until he became obsessed with eating the eggs. (We thank a growth spurt for his non-stop eating and frequent night wakings!)

We were lucky enough to catch a quick picture of the “Tucker” egg before it was gobbled up.  Lil man has a very strong sense of possession and understood quite quickly that Tuckers egg was for Tuckers immediate consumption.

Easter morning started with a quick (plastic) egg hunt around the living room.  Most of the eggs were filled with toys and yogurt covered blueberries.  The blueberries were a huge hit.   While Mom changed Tucker, Dad wheeled out Tucker’s birthday Easter present,  which included a Flintstonesesque firetruck from grandma.  All contents within the firetruck were immediately discarded: bunny, Easter pail and toys.  Time to drive!

Well, the yogurt covered blueberries did make it.  Asking Tucker to choose between a snack or the firetruck proved too much so we had to allow driving under the berry influence.

Days, even weeks, later the firetruck still proves to be a favorite toy.  Perfect as an escape vehicle (below stealing Moms rosemary from the lamb roast) or just a casual drive around the house.

Easter

We’ve been using Instragram a lot lately and I realized that none of those photos are getting documented here.  So, a quick recap of the past couple months Instagrammed.

Ice cream and roller derby.  Tucker did NOT want to share any of that ice cream with Mom.

Only looks like we applied a 1970’s filter and darkened Tuckers hair, but this is actually Mom and (Great) Uncle Mike in 1979.

Swings with Aunt Cathy.

Dad too this photo and Mom stole it and posted on Instagram.  Downside of the shared photo stream, I guess.  That and being TOO SLOW!

Loves Dad’s headphones.  Probably for the noise cancelling feature which doesn’t allow the “Put the headphones back, please!” to get through.

sleepy lil man.

We cuddle every night during The Muppet show.

We’ve been hitting the beach a lot more for sunsets during the off season.  We like California.

This should be old news to just about everyone reading, but Tucker’s little sister is expected June 2nd, 2012.   When we started this blog, a lot of people asked about the “s” in Watsons.  It was always in our plan to have more than one Watson.  That being said and me being 30 weeks pregnant or so, let’s just say that two is plural enough.

AND we’re super excited to meet lil Ms Watson, stay tuned!

There is nothing a toddler loves more than playing in boxes.  Lucky for Tucker, Mom & Dad are entirely too reliant on their Amazon Prime account and ship everything.

Pictures are pre-hair cut (November?) but just shows how dedicated we are to showing you adorable pictures of the lil guy.

In an effort to get these Christmas 2011 photos up before March, here they are with little fan fare.  It was a very Muppet Christmas.  Two months later, I’m happy to report that Tucker sleeps with Kermit and watches the Muppet Show every night with Fozzy.  (No plushed toy can compete with his collection of trucks, however.)

XMAS 2011 Part 01

Tucker is two years old and the ABCs are all the rage around our house.  Just don’t ask what happened to E-K.

I look at this video and can’t believe he’s two.  It’s impossible to talk about my feelings of being a parent without sounding cliche –  It’s amazing, exhausting, the best thing we’ve ever ever done,  completely and utterly transformative.   We’re different people now, better people, with a familiar shell.   So much has changed about both Ben and I (as individuals and as a family) which we only have this little person to thank.   It’s been the best two years of our lives and we love you.

Happy Birthday lil man

There is no denying the lil man’s attraction to music and mostly, the piano.

The last playtime post where Ben is playing piano and Tucker is playing on the floor is a bit misleading.   If Ben is playing Pee-No, 99.8% of the time Tucker is crawling in his lap and pushing Ben off the seat.  Much like when Dad is doing any Dadtask, say grilling or building, Tucker is all-in.

Sure, I think my son is a musical genius.  You can clearly see he’s hearing something in his head here, just doesn’t have the dexterity to get it out yet.

OR, he was just thinking about what buttons he was going to push.  Which is Tuckers true talent – erasing Dads recordings.

I look forward to many, many renditions of The Muppet Show and Man or Muppet (nominated for best Original Song in the Academy Awards) in the next few years.
